The variety in pet types and their abilities will allow a seasoned Summoner to have a trick up their sleeve for any occasion that may arise. Pets have their own health bar and will often hold the attention of the mobs you are fighting which can help a new player navigate through the early goings of the game. Even without input, the pet will act to defend its master. Using its weapon, the harmonizer, the Summoner can switch between pets and command them to attack at will. The Summoner collects and upgrades a variety of different creatures each with their own unique set of skills. The Summoner is another class that can turn into a good subclass for a lot of other classes similar to the Hunter. Aside from not attacking traditionally with a weapon, the Summoner does also have a few mechanics that are unique to them, so some of what you will have to learn to play the Summoner will not carry over to any other class you choose to try. The Summoner uses pets to attack in its place while remaining at a safe distance in a fight. If you are looking for a “caster” type to start in PSO2 the Summoner is a solid option for a beginner. It is also worth noting here that the Fighter, Gunner, and Techer classes are not selectable when creating a character, but are immediately available at the class counter once you finish the prologue and begin the game. If you are coming into Phantasy Star Online 2 as a beginner and are just hoping to get your feet wet while you learn to play then you may want to select between the Braver, the Hunter, or the Summoner. In PSO2, you don’t level up your character, you level up the class your character has equipped.

Phantasy Star Online 2 released all the way back in 2012 for PC and eventually made its way to PlayStation Vita in 2013, PS4 in 2016 and Nintendo Switch in 2018. We’re also yet to learn when PC players in the West can partake in the beta, especially since cross-play is supported with the Xbox One version. Its also been stated that old and new body cosmetics cannot be. There will be new items, emotes, outfits and other things coming to PSO2: NGS that are not in the current game and wont be transferable. Other enhancements on the Xbox One X are unknown. First, while many things will be transferable from the current game New Genesis, the reverse will often not be true. It also has an expanded display size for the UI, which means those with 4K screens won’t have to deal with smaller text. The game’s official Twitter has confirmed 4K support on the latter. Xbox One players will get the first shot but it seems that Xbox One X owners will benefit more. Sega’s Phantasy Star Online 2 will have its first closed beta from February 7th to 9th North America, marking the first time that the MMO can be experienced by Western audiences.
